XenCADtoPDF
A Windows desktop utility that turns a folder of DWG and DXF drawings into a finished PDF issue set, using your installed AutoCAD or ZWCAD, or its built-in engine. One-time purchase. Requires Windows 11, 64-bit.
How it converts
XenCADtoPDF works with your licensed full AutoCAD or ZWCAD installation. Both have been fully tested. AutoCAD LT is not supported.
Without either application, use the built-in conversion engine. It may omit or render some drawing elements differently from AutoCAD or ZWCAD. Identical output is not guaranteed. Review generated PDFs before issuing or sharing them.
Other CAD applications have not been tested and are not claimed as supported.
What it does
Drop in a folder. XenCADtoPDF reads every drawing and every layout in each drawing, and lists them for you to check before anything is plotted.
Every sheet is plotted at true scale, on the drawing's own paper size and plot style. Choose one PDF per layout, one per drawing, or one combined PDF with bookmarks. CAD layers are kept in the PDF. Cancel at any time — everything already plotted is kept.
Files are named from a template you set, such as {drawing}, {layout} and {date}. Existing files are never overwritten unless you choose to.
Every PDF is checked after it is made, and problems are flagged instead of hidden: blank pages, missing external references, missing plot styles and fonts, and paper sizes your PDF plotter does not have. A batch report (PDF) lists every sheet with its size, scale, plot style and any warnings.
Technical details
- Tested with AutoCAD 2027 and ZWCAD 2026, installed on the same PC. With either, every sheet is plotted through it, so the PDFs look as they do when you plot them yourself.
- When the built-in engine is used, the app says so clearly on every drawing.
- Your drawings are never saved or changed.
- With AutoCAD, XenCADtoPDF starts its own hidden instance. ZWCAD runs one session per user, so if ZWCAD is already open, XenCADtoPDF warns you and uses that session; it never hides or closes it.
- Settings it changes to run your CAD unattended are put back exactly as they were — after a crash, on its next start.
- Pop-up dialogs are answered automatically where it is safe, and the drawing is flagged so you know.
- Everything runs on your PC. No account, no sign-in, no cloud upload, no telemetry.
What it does not do
- Plot through AutoCAD LT — it has no automation interface. The built-in engine still works on those PCs.
- Render drawings at native fidelity without a supported CAD application installed
- Edit, modify, or re-save source drawing files
- Apply OCR or extract searchable text from output PDFs
- Process DWT template files — only DWG and DXF drawings are read
- Run on Windows 10
